一个英语句子中并列短语的位置问题----务必高手回答。

It was based more on German than the English we speak at present.

我想知道more --- than---是不是搭配，是的话， more有位置要求吗？为什么位于介词on之前呢？有这样的语法吗？高手帮忙
more的位置具体说一下。

The film is based on the novel.这个电影是以这个小说为基础的。（根据这个小说改编的）
more ...than 为固定搭配:这个是根据句意来的，此为高一英语课本上的原句。
通常用于比较两个不同的人物，但有时也可用来指一个人物本身的两种特性，这时其意义和 rather than 相同，肯定 more 后面的，而否定 than 后面的。汉语意思是“与其说……不如说……”是。。。而不是。。。
