3.D 两处空格缺少的次都是引导一个定语从句，
第一空: visit是及物动词，可以直接说visit some place，所以此处可以用that / which都可以，也可省略，引导the town的后置定语从句
第二空：be born in some place，需要有in这个介词，但是句中没有in，所以这里要用的词就是需要这样一个引导地点状语的词，where＝in which追问
