英语小说的章节名如何理解和翻译

看的一本英语小说，每一章的名字都是以“in which”开头的，如“in which Sophie talks to hats”、“in which Sophie is compelled to seek her fortune”、“in which Sophie discovers several strange things”，这个“in which”是什么意思，或者是起什么作用的？我看中文的译文中好像直接忽略了这个词了。

是英语的连句。which是连词。加in是因为which后写的句子需要。比如：which he is interested in/in which he is interested就是把which后连句的介词in提前到which前边。至于the one where， 同样，where是连词，where后边的句子是为了解释the one指的是什么。the one after就更简单了，单纯的说发生在什么之后。
