谁知道needn't 和mustn't正确的用法？

以前的英语老师和我们说如果疑问句是must，那么否定回答一定只能用needn't，可是现在的老师又说要分不同否定的意思，我总觉得后面的老师说的不对，我觉得mustn't是禁止的意思。
