【含义】
cannot是“不可以”，
can not是“可以不”。
cannot和can not都是书面语，不过can not语气更加强烈。
【区别用法】
can not和cannot的区别
1、意思不同
cannot(一个单词)是缩写can't的展开形式，意思是不可以。
而can not意思是可以不。
2、使用场景不同
cannot用于书面语，较为正式。
例如：If this can be tolerated, what cannot?
是可忍也，孰不可忍也？
而can not用于口语，比较随便。
例如：I can not give the actual figures.
我不能举出实际数字。
3、使用形式不同
can not 用于强调，当not被用于强调时，这时是需要考虑用can not而不是cannot。
例如：I can not tolerate laziness！
我不能容忍懒惰。
cannot和can not的用法
一、cannot
1、和too的搭配用法
cannot …too… "不可能把某事做过头；决不会…太"，与can never…too同义。
例如：But cannot too inflexible, because this play is comedic style.
但又不能太刻板，因为这部戏是喜剧风格。
2、cannot but
后面加动词原形、动名词等，都表示“禁不住，不由得，不得不，不能不”的意思。
例如：I cannot help admiring the picture whenever I look at it.
不管什么时候看到这幅画，我都禁不住要赞赏它。
二、can not
can not but + 动词原形，意思是不能不；不得不；只好；却不能不；那么你就不能不。
例如：We can not but allow you200 cases
since inquiries are so large.
我们只能给你们200箱因为询盘很多。
例如：
I cannot believe this!（我无法相信!等于I can’t believe this!）
I can not believe this!（我可以不相信!也就是说：I can believe this,or I can not believe this.我并不一定要相信,我可以选择不相信.）
