58. I found myself ________ to the spot where the experiment was being performed whenever I had some time to spare.
A) draws B) drawing C) drawn D) drew

58. I found myself ________ to the spot where the experiment was being performed whenever I had some time to spare.

A) draws B) drawing C) drawn D) drew

D is correct.

I think Option C would be correct. Why do we have to choose D?

And why he was close to the spot when he was free, it implies he would go up there in spite of oneself when he got free time?

Could you help me, thanks in advance.

Re: I found myself drew to

I don't think that D is correct. It must be an error; the correct answer, as you suggest, is C.

To be drawn to something is to be compelled to do it or to want to go towards it; he found that he wanted to be there, so he went there when he had a chance
Re: I found myself drew to

To be drawn to the spot.

Drew is the past participle of draw. You can draw yourself to the spot; you can have drew yourself to the spot (nobody uses this); you were drawn to the spot (by an imaginary force).

To me the distinction is clear. What do others think?

Re: I found myself drew to

But "drew" has to be a past particple of "draw". In this context we can clearly say: "The Rolling Stones drew a large audience". The alternative sort of construct would be "A large audience was drawn to the Rolling Stones".

view==观点或者是视图 vision==脑中浮现的一种景象 sight==你眼睛看到的一定范围里的东西 insight字典里写着是:The capacity to discern the true nature of a situation; penetration.看到某种情况真实本质的能力.所以我觉得应该是insight.

Lesson 9 Flying cats
Q: How do cats try to protect themselves when falling from great heights?
Cats never fail to fascinate human beings. They can be friendly and affectionate
towards humans, but they lead mysterious lives of their own as well. they never
become submissive like dogs and horses. As a result, humans have learned to
respect feline independence. Most cats remain suspicious of humans all their
lives. One of the things that fascinaes us most about cats is the popular belief
that they have nine lives. Apparently, there is a good deal of truth in this
idea. A cat’s ability to survive falls is based on fact.

Recently the New York Animal medical Centre made a study of 132 cas over a
period of five months. All these cats had one experience in common: they had
fallen off high buildings, yet only eight of them died from shock or injuries.
Of course, New York is the ideal place for such an interesting study, because
there is no shortage of tall buildings. There are plenty of high-rise
windowsills to fall, from! One cat ,Sabrina, fell 32 storeys, yet only suffered
from a broken tooth. ‘Cats behave like well-trained paratroopers,’ a doctor
said. It seems that the further cats fall, the less they are likely to injure
themselves. In a long drop, they reach speeds of 60 miles an hour and more. At
high speeds, falling cats have time to relax. They stretch out their legs like
flying squirrels. This increases their air-resistance and reduces the shock of
impact when they hid the ground.

10 _____ there is a good deal of truth in this idea. (l.7)
a. As a matter of fact b. In the event c. It would seem d. Surprisingly enough
10. C
it would seem (that )… ----apparently

那我问一下:It is said that--主语从句, It seems that-主语从句中的连词that可以省略吗?
还有为什么C项用虚拟语气it would seem而不是it seems呢?因为it would seem 比it seems 的语气是更不肯定!

you like与whatever都是用来修饰food一词:whatever food you like
① She applied whatever strength she had left to the task.

You can eat food free in my restuarant________ you like
“you like” 缺了宾语
A. whenever

You can eat food free in my restuarant________ you like it.
I do. yes, I can. yes,I am. 等
却不能说: yes,I like.
而应该说: yes, I like it (very much)
I do 中的 do 是助动词,而非动词“做”的意思。

② I do remarkable work in English whenever I feel like it.
You can eat food free in my restuarant________ you like
A.whenever B.wherever C.whatever D.however问题补充:

whatever you like=anything you like,
You can eat free in my restaurant whatever you like.
