比较级中.any other后接单数还是复数

题中出现的是接单数,如: He is taller than any other boy in his class.
而课文中又出现了得数情况,是仁爱版的教材.原句是这样的:I like cats best because they are cuter than any other animals.现在我就很糊涂了,不知道究竟该怎样接

通常来说any other是跟单数形式的单词，但cats 和 dogs是泛指所有（各种各样的）猫类和狗类，应把它们看作一个整体，所以可以用在any other后面。还有fishs，vegetables，animals等等都是这种情况。

than any other后接名词时通常用单数形式，很少用复数。如：

注意any other的用法,是指在同一范围内除了某人或某物以外的其他人或事物,any other后跟单数名词,也可以说any of the other+复数名词.如：
Tom runs faster than any other student(或any of the other students)in his class.

Shanghai is langer than other city in China.
上海比中国的任何一个城市都大.
【注】但比和被比的人或物不在同一范围或不属同一类别,就不用other.如：
Shanghai is larger than any city in India.
