but后面的动词分为三种形式：
(1)but前面有实义动词do或其他形式时，后面的动词不定式不带to；否则，带to。例：
I can do anything but sing.我就是不会唱歌。
I have no choice but to move.除了搬家，我别无选择。
She wanted nothing but to stay with him. 她只是想和他呆在一起。
(2)在nothing to do之后，动词不定式带不带to均可。例：
I have nothing to do but (to) wait. 我只好等着，没有别的方法。
There was nothing to do but (to) remain.只能留下来。
(3)在cannot choose but, cannot help but, cannot but后，动词不定式不带to。例：She could not choose but leave her children at home.她只好把孩子留在家里。
She could not but choose to leave her children at home.她忍不住把孩子们留在家里。
1.英文连接词是连接英文单词的词，如also，and等。英语有486,000个左右的单词，而连接词却只有70个左右，它们总是非常高频率的出现在各类文章、对话、电邮等英语实际沟通中。
2.英文连接词像胶水一样将相关联的句子连接起来，国际心理学家、语言学家、教育家Chris Lonsdale 龙飞虎又把它称之为“胶水词”。
3.连词分类
一表示承接的过渡词：also，and，and then，too，in addition，furthermore，moreover，what's more, again，on top of that，another，first，second，third等。
二表示时间顺序的过渡词：now，then，before，after，afterwards，earlier，later，immediately，soon，next，in a few days，gradually，suddenly，finally··等。（但是你可以感受到这些词是副词，所以原词条对于“连接词”即连词是错误的）
三表示空间顺序的过渡词：near（to），far（from），in front of，behind，beside，beyond，above，below，to the right/left，around，outside等。
四表示比较的过渡词：in the same way，just like，just as等。
