1. Honorable judges, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen:
It is with great honor and pleasure that I stand before you this beautiful Saturday morning to share my thoughts on life and my passion for the English language.
2. About a year and a half ago, I participated in my first English Speech Contest. As I stood before the microphone, with all eyes fixed on me, I was unable to speak. I stood there, feeling embarrassed and helpless, struggling fruitlessly to find the right words to say. My fears had paralyzed me.
3. Despite my unchanged passion for English, I lost my courage to speak in public. When my professor encouraged me to participate in this competition again, I initially said "no." I couldn't bear the thought of enduring another painful experience. He looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. I will never forget his words. He said, "Look, we all have our fears, and you have yours. You could twist your ankle while playing basketball, but then be afraid to ever play again. Running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. A winner is not one who never fails, but one who never quits."
4. I spent a whole day with his words turning over in my mind. Then, I made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: I would face my fears and take part in the competition!
5. As it turned out, my dear old professor was right. Now, here I am, standing before a microphone once again. My heart is beating fast, my mouth is dry, but most importantly, I have faced my fears, and that makes all the difference!
6. Good morning, honorable judges, dear teachers, and close friends. I am delighted to stand here and share my speech with you today. My topic is "Love and Taking Care of Nature."
7. Each life on Earth has a long and touching evolutionary story. From the very beginning, the lives of human beings were equal to those of other creatures. They are all part of our mother, Nature. Nevertheless, for some inexplicable reasons, humans have become the spirit of all creatures. Of course, it is the result of evolution, but we should still be grateful to all our companions in nature for the opportunities they offer.
8. Unfortunately, humans cannot live without Earth. We rely on the Earth for our existence, drinking sweet water, enjoying sunshine, air, sky, fruit, grains, and so on. In conclusion, humans cannot live without nature, and our mother nature makes us stronger.
9. I must admit that I do not like the word "pet," but I prefer the word "animal" instead. I have been in love with animals since I was a little boy. The term "pet fashion" annoys me, as it often leads to animals being shackled and losing their liberty. Their natural attributes can be stripped away, too.
10. Up to now, humans have excessively exploited nature for their growing appetites for wealth, destroying the balance of nature. They do not realize that their own development and existence will be threatened. Therefore, our focus should be on nature, and we should strive to develop the concept of "maintaining harmony between humans and nature." We should emphasize our education with a sense of cultural and natural empathy, using vivid examples to awaken the conscience in people's hearts.
11. Good morning, teachers, and fellow students. Today, we would like to introduce some of our favorite books to you.
12. My favorite book is. This diary was written by an Italian boy named Enrico and covers his life and studies. It includes various touching stories that occurred around Enrico, the mottos taught by his parents, and the wonderful ten "monthly" stories told by his teacher during class. Every word in the chapter describes the word "love." From patriotism to friendship, and to the love between parents and children, it is truly touching.
13. This novel taught me how to love and how to learn from love. I really like this book very much. What about you? What is your favorite book?
14. My favorite book is. Have you read it before? Oh, I haven't read this book before. What is it about? Well, it's a story of a rich girl who maintained her noble character after her father's bankruptcy. The story has a happy ending.
15. Can you tell us why you love this book so much? Sure. It's because the story taught us to be brave and to face challenges and difficulties with courage. I am deeply impressed by the strength and perseverance of the little princess in the story. I have decided to learn from her from now on.
16. Oh, I see. The story sounds very good. I can't wait to read this book as well.
17. Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! I am thrilled to have this opportunity to attend this competition. My topic for today is "Never Say Sorry Again!"
18. Do you feel sorry for the animals that are killed by the millions every day? Do we really need to kill animals? Let's think about the reasons for using dead animals. People often use them for food, makeup, medicine, and especially for clothing.
19. Fur coats are definitely a luxury. Yes, they are warm, but they are mostly a symbol of wealth. Do you know how much a mink coat costs?
20. A recent report said that a Dutch animal-rights group has asked their much-loved Queen to stop wearing fur. The group pointed out that making clothing from fur represents cruelty to animals. "Fur belongs to animals, not to human beings."
21. Nowadays, many greedy people hunt and kill wild animals and birds to make money by selling their hides at high prices. This kind of killing should be stopped and severely punished. If we do not take action to protect wild animals and birds, they will soon disappear from the Earth. Humans will one day find themselves as the loneliest creatures on Earth.
22. Until that day, when we finally realize that we no longer have these friends or neighbors, what will we humans say? Sorry? No, it's too late to say sorry to them.
23. Ladies and gentlemen, please consider what I have said to you this afternoon. Think carefully about whether we really need to use animals for our pleasure. If you come to the conclusion that we are wrong, then we should change our attitude so that we never say sorry again to the animal population.
24. Thank you!
