全句的谓语动词是 stands over，后面的 to periodically taste and adjust the heat setting 是说明站在锅前干什么呢，是 stand over the pot 的目的状语。后面的to make the soup just right 是之前面所有行为当作的目的（把汤煲得正正好），于是是全句的目的状语。追问
