关于what融合性关系代词？

例句：…often adjust their desires to what appears within reach.
句中what是融合性关系代词吗？我听课感觉也是一知半解的感觉，那句中what还原的话是the？？？which呢？
有人可解答一下吗？顺便说说思路吧

I have no idea what he likes.这个句子中的what是疑问句，引导疑问分句。他只是想知道名词性关系分句是否可以作同位语。

既然名词性关系分句，相当于一个名词词组，名词词组当然可以作同位语了。不过，我们首先应该知道同位语有限制性同位语和非限制性同位语之区分。what引导的名词性关系分句可以作非限制性同位语。我写了一个融合型限定词what引导的从句作同位语，我觉得是可以成立的。

He is driving a new car, what gift his father gave his when he turned 25. 

= He is driving a new car, the gift that his father gave him when he turned 25.

本句中的what he likes，带有疑问概念。所以，what不是“融合型关系代词”，而是连接代词引导的名词性从句，具体说是idea 的同位语从句。

在单句中，what 称作“疑问代词”，引导特殊疑问句。例如：

What does he like？

在复句中，what 称作“连接代词”，引导名词性从句（又名：间接疑问句）。例如：

I don't know what he likes? （宾语从句）
