Dear teachers and officers,
I'm so sorry to disturb you during your vacation, but I have an emergency that needs your understanding and assistance.
During this vacation, my mother was send to hospital for some serious disease. It was from this March on that my mother began to lose sleep, taste bitter, cough much, and feel terrible every day. At first, our family thought she might catch a cold because it was freezing in the winter. My mother took some medicine and then turned to transfusion treatment for more than ten days. But the situation continued to deteriorate. We sent her to hospital for a thorough examination. It was recurrence of breast cancer and cancerous cells had invaded her lungs and brain. Her situation was critical and the doctor suggested that she be hospitalized for treatment immediately. It was an unbearable surprise for all of us. My mother used to suffer from breast cancer about three years ago. But that time the cancer was in its early stage and, after an operation and the following chemotherapy, the docter informed us that her situation was stable. We all thought she would recover and gradually get back to normal life if we pay more attention on caring her.
These days my mother is accepting chemotherapy treatment. The side effects of the treatment brought pains throughout her body. This agony beat her and made her weak and miserable. She is in great need of someone around her every day. We lack hands in our family to take care of her. And what makes things worse is that the medical cost is so high as may reach thirty thousand yuan per day at its peak.
During these vacation days, I have been shuttling back and forth between my home and the hospital to try to help my mother take some food and alleviate her physical pains. Now the first course of treatment has finished and three more are yet to come according to the treatment scheme arranged by the doctor. The last course is supposed to finish this June. Even after that time my mother will still need someone to take care of her considering her weak situation.
Here I want you, all the officers and Director Ajan Usama, my immediate supervisor, to mercifully arrange some other teachers for the subjects originally scheduled for me during the comming semester and permit me to leave without pay until this Octomber.
I'm awefully sorry for the trouble caused to our school. To show my sincerity and offset the impact to our school, I'm willing to waive my salaries for this April and May.
If my petition is refused, I will try my best to teach according to the arrangement of our school and will still thank you, all the teachers and officers, for your consideration and decision. I appreciate for your care on me during past years. This job is nice for me and I cherish it very much.
